about me
For over a decade I have worked in higher education in a
variety of roles: faculty support, adjunct instructor for art
history, graduate admissions operations.
While teaching an undergraduate art history course designed
for future engineers, it was then that Sondra realized: How can
we creatively utilize 21st-century digital platforms to teach
objects from the past? This was the moment she decided to
follow a career in technology design for higher education.
Her research interests focus on the disparities between academia pedagogy and up-and-coming technology, as well as ways to implement innovative, engaging tools/projects into the flipped-classroom.
In March 2019, Sondra launched the interactive digital exhibit, “Beyond Boundaries: Exploring the World through Language Learning,” a collaboration of Barnard’s language programs. Projects currently in development include 3D models and virtual reality.
Sondra holds a B.A. in Art History from Marymount Manhattan College and an M.A. in Art History from Brooklyn College. She is currently working towards a second M.A. in Digital Media Design for Learning at NYU Steinhardt.
